Kim Shimazaki

Associate Marriage & Family Therapist

An opening that is about your ideal client with elaboration.

The gap between the person you want to be and the actions you take shifts you away from a life that feels truly your own. When you feel disconnected from your hopes and goals—whether in your relationships, your career, or other important areas of life—the resulting tension doesn’t let go. Perhaps you’ve pushed yourself to change, but effort alone hasn't been enough. It’s time to overcome the obstacles standing between your intentions and the life you envision.

Why you became a therapist and why you’re passionate about it.

Pursuing a career as a psychotherapist allows me to channel my previous work and lived experiences into my true calling and utilize my natural strengths in a profession that aligns with my deepest values. I feel honored to support clients in leveraging their innate strengths and fostering their resilience and growth. Inspiration comes from Frederick Buechner’s philosophy to work where my “deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.” For me, that meeting place lies in the felt connection with clients. It is in this contained space that their search for a life that finally “fits” meets my professional passion for helping clients achieve this growth.

A closer with empathy, authority statements, a seed of hope, and a clear call to action.

Growth often begins at the edge of our comfort zone. With specialized training in crisis support and therapeutic interventions, I provide guidance and foster a nonjudgmental, emotionally safe space to help you navigate and find clarity in your most difficult stories. My role is to hold a light to self-awareness, but you are the one who sees the path and chooses to take it.

Hardship often carries the seeds of incredible strength, and you deserve a life that feels whole and vibrant. There is a path toward healing, and it starts with a single conversation. If you’re feeling a pull toward change, let’s work together to bridge the gap between where you are and the life you are meant to live.
