Marlena Bocanegra

 Associate Social Worker

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted by experiences that have left you questioning yourself, your relationships, or what comes next. Maybe you have been carrying things on your own for a long time, trying to keep moving forward while managing anxiety, depression, trauma, difficult life transitions, or the weight of experiences that have been difficult to process. You may understand that you want something to change, but finding a way forward can feel difficult when you are already emotionally drained.

I became a therapist because I believe people deserve a space where they can feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. Throughout my clinical career, I have worked with individuals and families navigating complex and challenging circumstances, including trauma, mental health concerns, crisis situations, interpersonal violence, and involvement with the justice and child welfare systems. These experiences have strengthened my belief in the importance of meeting each person where they are while recognizing the resilience, strengths, and experiences that have shaped who they are today.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that therapy should be a place where you can be honest about what you are experiencing while also developing practical tools to create meaningful change. I strive to build a trusting therapeutic relationship and tailor treatment to your individual needs, experiences, culture, and goals. Whether you are working through a current crisis, processing past experiences, or simply trying to better understand yourself, you do not have to navigate it alone.

Together, we can work toward understanding what is keeping you stuck, building on the strengths you already possess, and developing healthier ways of coping and moving forward. My goal is for you to leave therapy with greater self-awareness, practical skills, and a stronger sense of hope and direction. You have already taken an important step by considering support. Therapy can be the space where that step becomes meaningful change.
