Maha Abbasi
Associate Professional Clinical Counselor
Embarking on the path to better understand yourself is often a daunting one. You don’t know where the journey will take you, who you will meet along the way, and whether you even feel ready for it. Having an array of emotions is natural as you go through the process. What do you do and how do you safely continue the journey? I believe therapy can help. Your therapy session is a safe space where you share your thoughts, plans, emotions, ideas - anything! The therapeutic relationship becomes the vessel that holds and protects what you share. I collaborate with you in understanding your journey and planning out the route you take. I help you become aware of any blind spots along the way - just like someone reliable in the passenger seat beside you.
I believe that therapy and all it entails can help you become your most authentic self, regardless of when you start and under what circumstances. I’ve seen it be the catalyst for change, both personally and professionally. I have over 6 years of experience working with a diverse range of concerns and clients from different cultural backgrounds. I hope to create an environment that will help you define what therapy can be for you.
Let us start this life changing process together! I aim to empower you so that you see yourself for all you are and love what you see. We will work towards building the skills you need to be more mindful and present. And finally, my hope is that when you leave the first session with me, you feel heard, respected, valued - and most of all, that you feel safer in your skin. Even a tiny bit safer matters a whole lot.
